Norimin ( Generic Ethinyloestradiol/Norethisterone )

Norimin is a birth control pill commonly known as a "Combined Oral Contraceptive", that contains both an oestrogen (ethinyloestradiol) and progestogen (norethisterone) hormone.Oral contraceptives belonging to this group produce their birth control (or contraceptive) effect by preventing ovulation (or the release of an egg from the ovary) during each menstrual cycle. Combined Oral Contraceptives also cause changes to the mucus of the cervix and the lining of the womb which contribute to the contraceptive action. If taken according to directions the combined oral contraceptives are very effective in preventing pregnancy. The failure rate of this type of contraceptive is such that for every 1,000 women using the pill for one year, two will become pregnant.

Claratyne ( Clarinex, Generic Loratadine )

This medication is an antihistamine that treats symptoms such as itching, runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing from "hay fever" and other allergies. It is also used to relieve itching from hives.Loratadine does not prevent hives or prevent/treat a serious allergic reaction (e.g., anaphylaxis). Therefore, if your doctor has prescribed epinephrine to treat allergic reactions, always carry your epinephrine injector with you. Do not use loratadine in place of your epinephrine. If you are self-treating with this medication, it is important to read the manufacturer's package instructions carefully so you know when to consult your doctor or pharmacist. (See also Precautions section.)Do not use this medication in children younger than 2 years unless directed by the doctor. How to use Loratadine OralIf you are using the over-the-counter product to self-treat, read all the directions on the product package before taking this medication. If your doctor has prescribed this medication, follow your doctor's directions and the instructions on your prescription label. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.Take this medication by mouth with or without food, usually once a day or as directed by your doctor or the product package. If you are using the chewable tablets, chew each tablet well and swallow. Dosage is based on your age, condition, and response to treatment. Do not increase your dose or take this drug more often than directed. Do not take more of this medication than recommended for your age.Tell your doctor if your allergy symptoms do not improve after 3 days of treatment or if your hives last more than 6 weeks. Seek immediate medical attention if your condition worsens or you think you have a serious medical problem (e.g., very serious allergic reaction/anaphylaxis).

Nelvir ( Viracept, Generic Nelfinavir Mesylate )

Nelfinavir is used in combination with other medications to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in patients with or without acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Nelfinavir is one of a class of medications called protease inhibitors. It works by slowing the spread of HIV infection in the body. Nelfinavir does not cure HIV and may not prevent you from developing HIV-related illnesses, including other infections. Nelfinavir does not prevent the spread of HIV to other people.Nelfinavir comes as a tablet and a powder to take by mouth. It is usually taken two to three times a day with food. Take nelfinavir at around the same times every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take nelfinavir exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. If you are unable to swallow the tablet, you may put it in a glass and dissolve it in a small amount of water. Mix the liquid well, and drink it immediately. Rinse the glass with more water and swallow the entire mixture to make sure you have taken all of the medication.Nelfinavir oral powder may be added to water, milk, formula, soy milk, or dietary supplements. Mix well, and drink all of the liquid right away in order to take the full dose. Your prescription label tells you how many scoops of nelfinavir powder to add to the liquid. If the mixture is not taken immediately it must be stored in the refrigerator and taken within 6 hours. Do not mix nelfinavir oral powder with acidic food or juice (orange juice, apple juice, or apple sauce). Do not mix nelfinavir with water in the original container.Nelfinavir controls HIV infection but does not cure it. Continue to take nelfinavir even if you feel well. Do not stop taking nelfinavir without talking to your doctor. If you stop taking nelfinavir or skip doses, your infection may get worse or become resistant to medications.Nelfinavir is not a cure for HIV and it does not prevent the spread of HIV to others through sexual contact or blood contamination (e.g., sharing used needles). This medication has been shown to contain an impurity (EMS - ethyl methanesulfonate) which has been shown to cause cancer and birth defects in animals. Because it is unknown if there is a risk of cancer or birth defects in humans from EMS, nelfinavir should only be used in patients for whom the potential benefits outweigh the potential risk. Risks may be greater in children and pregnant women. If you are currently taking nelfinavir as part of your HIV treatment, discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Do not stop taking nelfinavir without first talking to your doctor. How to use Nelfinavir OralRead the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start using nelfinavir and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.Take this medication by mouth with a high-fat food, usually 2-3 times daily or as directed by your doctor. If you are using other drugs that should be taken on an empty stomach (e.g., didanosine), then those drugs should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking nelfinavir. Consult your pharmacist for more details. The dosage is based on your weight, liver function, medical condition, other medications, and response to therapy. It is very important to continue taking this medication (and other HIV medications) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. This medication works best when the amount of drug in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug at evenly spaced intervals. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day.Do not take more or less of this drug than prescribed or stop taking it (or other HIV medicines) even for a short time unless directed to do so by your doctor. Skipping or changing your dose without approval from your doctor may cause the amount of virus to increase, make the infection more difficult to treat (resistant), or worsen side effects.

Paracip ( Acephen, Genapap, Excedrin, Gelpirin, Panadol, Tempra, Tylenol, Generic Acetaminophen )

Acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain from headaches, muscle aches, menstrual periods, colds and sore throats, toothaches, backaches, and reactions to vaccinations (shots), and to reduce fever. Acetaminophen may also be used to relieve the pain of osteoarthritis (arthritis caused by the breakdown of the lining of the joints). Acetaminophen is in a class of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). It works by changing the way the body senses pain and by cooling the body. How should this medicine be used? Acetaminophen comes as a tablet, chewable tablet, capsule, suspension or solution (liquid), drops (concentrated liquid), extended-release (long-acting) tablet, and orally disintegrating tablet (tablet that dissolves quickly in the mouth), to take by mouth, with or without food. Acetaminophen also comes as a suppository to use rectally. Acetaminophen is available without a prescription, but your doctor may prescribe acetaminophen to treat certain conditions. Follow the directions on the package or prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take acetaminophen exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than directed on the package label or prescribed by your doctor. Taking more than the recommended amount may cause damage to your liver. If you are giving acetaminophen to your child, read the package label carefully to make sure that it is the right product for the age of the child. Do not give children acetaminophen products that are made for adults. Some products for adults and older children may contain too much acetaminophen for a younger child. Drops made for infants are more concentrated (much more medication in each drop) than liquids made for older children. Check the package label to find out how much medication the child needs. If you know how much your child weighs, give the dose that matches that weight on the chart. If you don't know your child's weight, give the dose that matches your child's age. Ask your child's doctor if you don't know how much medication to give your child.Acetaminophen comes in combination with other medications to treat cough and cold symptoms. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice on which product is best for your symptoms. Check nonprescription cough and cold product labels carefully before using two or more products at the same time. These products may contain the same active ingredient(s) and taking them together could cause you to receive an overdose. This is especially important if you will be giving cough and cold medications to a child.Swallow the extended-release tablets whole; do not split, chew, crush, or dissolve them. Place the orally disintegrating tablet ('Meltaways') in your mouth and allow to dissolve or chew it before swallowing.Shake the suspension and drops well before each use to mix the medication evenly. Use the measuring cup provided by the manufacturer to measure each dose of the solution or suspension, and use the dosing device provided to measure each dose of the drops. Use the dosing device to slowly release the drops directly into the child's mouth near the inner cheek. Do not mix the drops with baby formula.

Divaa Od ( Depakote, Depakene, Generic Divalproex )

Valproic acid is used alone or with other medications to treat certain types of seizures. Valproic acid is also used to treat mania (episodes of frenzied, abnormally excited mood) in people with bipolar disorder (manic-depressive disorder; a disease that causes episodes of depression, episodes of mania, and other abnormal moods). It is also used to prevent migraine headaches, but not to relieve headaches that have already begun. Valproic acid is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by increasing the amount of a certain natural substance in the brain. How should this medicine be used? Valproic acid comes as a capsule, an extended-release (long-acting) tablet, a delayed-release (slow to begin working) tablet, a sprinkle capsule (capsule that contains small beads of medication that can be sprinkled on food), and a syrup (liquid) to take by mouth. The syrup, capsules, delayed-release tablets, and sprinkle capsules are usually taken two or more times daily. The extended-release tablets are usually taken once a day. Take valproic acid at around the same time(s) every day. Take valproic acid with food to help prevent the medication from upsetting your stomach. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take valproic acid exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Swallow the regular capsules and extended-release tablets whole; do not split, chew, or crush them. You can swallow the sprinkle capsules whole, or you can open the capsules and sprinkle the beads they contain on a teaspoonful of soft food, such as applesauce or pudding. Swallow the mixture of food and medication beads right after you prepare it. Be careful not to chew the beads. Do not store unused mixtures of food and medication.Do not mix the syrup into any carbonated drink.Your doctor may start you on a low dose of valproic acid and gradually increase your dose, not more often than once a week.Valproic acid may help to control your condition but will not cure it. Continue to take valproic acid even if you feel well. Do not stop taking valproic acid without talking to your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking valproic acid, you may experience a severe, long-lasting and possibly life-threatening seizure. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.

Paraxin ( Chloromycetin, Generic Chloramphenicol )

Chloramphenicol is primarily bacteriostatic. It binds to the 50S subunit of the ribosome, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.Chloramphenicol has a wide spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative cocci and bacilli (including anaerobes), Rickettsia , Mycoplasma, and Chlamydia and Chlamydophila. Because of bone marrow toxicity, the availability of alternative antibiotics, and the emergence of resistance, chloramphenicol is no longer a drug of choice for any infection, except serious infections due to a few multidrug-resistant pathogens that retain susceptibility to this antibiotic. However, outcomes of chloramphenicol treatment of meningitis caused by relatively penicillin-resistant pneumococci have been discouraging.

Genteal ( Generic Hypromellose )

HypromelloseAbout hypromelloseThis belongs to the group of medicines known as ocular lubricants.Hypromellose eye drops are also known as 'artificial tears'and are used in the eye to relieve dryness and irritation caused by a reduced flow of tears. In certain circumstances they can reduce damage to the eye.Hypromellose can also be used as a lubricant for artificial eyes and to moisten hard contact lenses.Brands available include Isopto Alkaline and Isopto Plain. Before using hypromelloseBefore using hypromellose eye drops make sure your doctor or pharmacist knows:if you wear contact lenses if you have ever had an allergic reaction to this or any other medicine if you are taking or using any other medicines, including those available to buy without a prescription, herbal or complementary medicinesHow to use hypromelloseWash your hands well before use Remove the outer cap Tilt the head back and pull the lower lid of the eye down to form a pocket Hold the container between the thumb and middle finger of the other hand, turn the container upside down near to the eye, but try not to touch the eye Apply enough pressure to the container to release one drop Close the eye and keep it closed for a minute or two. If you think that you have missed the eye, then insert another drop Repeat in the other eye if you have been instructed to use hypromellose in both eyes Replace the outer cap on the container, trying not to touch the applicator tip with any surface, including the eye or fingers Wash your hands after useApply the drops three to four times a day, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. For very dry eyes, this preparation may need to be applied every hour.Getting the most from your treatmentIf you wear hard contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops. Leave them out for at least half an hour before re-inserting. You should not wear soft contact lenses while you are being treated with hypromellose. If your symptoms do not improve within a few days, or if they become worse, check with your doctor or pharmacist. If you also have to use any other eye drops or ointments, leave at least five minutes between each one. Hypromellose should always be the last preparation used. When first instilled, hypromellose may cause blurred vision. Make sure you can see clearly before you drive, operate machinery or do other jobs which could be dangerous if you were not able to see properly. Can hypromellose cause problems?Hypromellose can occasionally cause a mild stinging sensation in the eyes, which should soon disappear as your eyes adjust to the new drops. If this continues or becomes severe or if you experience headaches, eye pain, changes in eyesight or constantly red eyes stop using hypromellose and contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice. How to store hypromelloseKeep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and heat. Discard these eye drops 4 weeks after opening Never keep out of date or unwanted medicines. Take them to your local pharmacist who will dispose of unwanted medicines for you..

Ciplox Eye Drop ( Cipro/ Ciproxin, Generic Ciprofloxacin )

Ciprofloxacin ophthalmic solution is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye including conjunctivitis (pinkeye; infection of the membrane that covers the outside of the eyeball and the inside of the eyelid) and corneal ulcers (infection and loss of tissue in the clear front part of the eye). Ciprofloxacin ophthalmic ointment is used to treat conjunctivitis. Ciprofloxacin is in a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infection.Ophthalmic ciprofloxacin comes as a solution (eye drops) and an ointment to apply to the eyes. Ciprofloxacin ophthalmic solution is usually used often, between once every 15 minutes to once every 4 hours while awake for 7 to 14 days or longer. Ciprofloxacin ophthalmic ointment is usually applied 3 times a day for 2 days and then twice a day for 5 days. To help you remember to use ophthalmic ciprofloxacin, use it at around the same times every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use ophthalmic ciprofloxacin exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor. You should expect your symptoms to improve during your treatment. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not go away or get worse, or if you develop other problems with your eyes during your treatment.Use ophthalmic ciprofloxacin until you finish the prescription, even if you feel better. If you stop using ophthalmic ciprofloxacin too soon, your infection may not be completely cured and the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics. When you use ophthalmic ciprofloxacin, be careful not to let the tip of the bottle or tube touch your eye, fingers, face, or any surface. If the tip does touch another surface, bacteria may get into the eye ointment or drops. Using eye ointment or drops that are contaminated with bacteria may cause serious damage to the eye or loss of vision. If you think your eye ointment or drops have become contaminated, call your doctor or pharmacist. To use the eye drops or ointment, follow these steps: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Use a mirror or have someone else put the drops or ointment in your eye(s). Remove the protective cap from the bottle or tube. Make sure that the end of the dropper tip is not chipped or cracked. If you are using eye drops, hold the bottle with the tip down at all times to prevent drops from flowing back into the bottle and contaminating the medication inside. Lie down and gaze upward or tilt your head back. Holding the bottle or tube between your thumb and index finger, place the dropper tip or end of the tube as near as possible to your eyelid without touching it. Brace the remaining fingers of that hand against your cheek or nose. With the index finger of your other hand, pull the lower lid of the eye down to form a pocket. If you are using the eye drops, drop the prescribed number of drops into the pocket made by the lower lid and the eye. Placing drops on the surface of the eyeball can cause stinging. Then close your eye and press lightly against the lower lid with your finger for 2-3 minutes to keep the medication in the eye. Do not blink. Use a clean tissue to wipe any excess liquid from your cheek. If you are using the ointment, squeeze a thin ribbon of ointment into the pocket. Blink gently and close your eye for 1-2 minutes. Use a clean tissue to wipe excess ointment from your eyelids or eyelashes. If your doctor told you to use ciprofloxacin eye drops or ointment in both eyes, repeat steps 6-10 above for your other eye. Replace the cap on the tube or bottle and tighten it right away. Wash your hands again.

Flexital ( Trental Sr, Generic Pentoxiphylline )

This medication is used to improve the symptoms of a certain blood flow problem in the legs/arms (intermittent claudication due to occlusive artery disease). Pentoxifylline can decrease the muscle aching/pain/cramps with exercise, including walking, that occur with intermittent claudication. Pentoxifylline belongs to a class of drugs known as hemorrheologic agents. It works by helping blood flow more easily through narrowed arteries. This increases the amount of oxygen that can be delivered by the blood when the muscles need more (e.g., during exercise).OTHER USES: This section contains uses of this drug that are not listed in the approved professional labeling for the drug but that may be prescribed by your health care professional. Use this drug for a condition that is listed in this section only if it has been so prescribed by your health care professional. This drug may also be used for decreased blood flow to the brain (cerebrovascular insufficiency), to improve blood flow problems in chronic heart failure, and to treat kidney problems from diabetes. How to use Flexital OralTake this medication by mouth with food, usually 3 times daily or as directed by your doctor. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Doing so can destroy the long action of the drug and may increase side effects.Dosage is based on your medical condition, kidney function, and response to therapy.Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day. It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Do not stop this medication without your doctor's permission. Improvement in symptoms can occur in 2-4 weeks, but it may take up to 8 weeks to get the full benefit.

Spardac ( Zagam, Generic Sparfloxacin )

Sparfloxacin belongs to the class of medicines known as antibiotics. It is used to treat bronchitis and pneumonia caused by bacterial infections.Sparfloxacin works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. However, this medicine will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections.
